What is overtime?

The term refers to any hours that overtake the standard working schedule (typically 8 hours per day, 5 times a week) or above the default workday length stated in company rules and included in a job contract.

How many hours is considered overtime?

According to FLSA, any extra hours over 40 standard work hours in a workweek is considered overtime.

Types of overtime

Overtime hours worked are divided into three types:

  • Standard overtime: An employee stays after regular working hours and receives one and a half times their usual rate.

  • Stop tracking time when the daily hours limit is reached: This overtime tracker setting is based on time tracked with a desktop app. Instead of setting rigid working timeframes, you can define the total number of hours users can track daily. For example, if you set the limit of eight hours on Monday and the user starts work at 8 AM, the desktop app will stop tracking computer time and activities after 4 PM.
